This entry is a college assignement of mine to, describe and compare influences of the media in a selected sport. Also to describe and compare the affect of technology in sport…
First of all the media’s influence in sport today is greater than 10years ago due to the power of the internet. Also smartphones have been developed and information has just became much more easier for everyone to gain access to. The media these days highlight the demand for sports coverage in all shapes an forms, they meet the demands by providing many services. From TV, Newspapers, Podcasts,Radio coverage, Phone applications and Text updates. So the public are never far away from accessing the information they need, The overall grasp the media has on sport today is influential especially when it comes to the topic of Goal Line technology.
GoalRef or Hawkeye whatever the name maybe, the subject still brings postitive negative and skepticle opinions to the table. I personally think the introduction of some kinda of goaline technology in football would do the world of good for the game. A more accurate and reliable source of officiating the game other than reliaing on lines men takes away the human error aspect, With a fair result - But in hindsight the fans are affected by talking points in the game, was it a goal? or wasnt it? the banter and having one over other on clubs. There hasnt been a final decision made by UEFA regarding goaline tech as of yet, But if it was to go into action for next season, It may not be needed every game and the decision may not be crucial for everyteam, But it keeps the game on an even keal for both teams, also officials and players arent subjectable to as much crititism as no one makes the decision the system makes the decision.
